When you refer someone in to our service, our Baby Bank Co-ordinator (Shimeer), will contact the client with the details you have provided and have an initial consultation over the phone to understand what support they need. They will also ask the client which of our collection points they would find it easiest to get to.

Working with the items that we have in stock, our volunteer team will put together a care package that will always include essential hygiene essentials for mum and baby and we will strive to include any another item that the client expresses need of. This will be delivered to their local collection point or we will liaise with partner organisations and the order will then be distributed and the client asked to collect it within a week.

The collection point organisation will then ask the client if they want to stay in touch and whether they want ongoing support, and then arrange this with the Baby Bank.

If we need more information from you as the referrer, we might get in touch, and we will also email you when your client has accessed our services.

We will support any family in Salford. We currently have our base in Central Salford and have a community partner Castle Street Community Centre in Eccles who act as collection points. If a client cannot make it to one of these collection points, then alternative arrangements can be made through the referring organisation.

After making contact with the client, and discussing their needs, they will be asked to collect items from the collection point that is easiest for them to get to.

If the client requires more ongoing support, this will be arranged through the collection point who will liaise with Baby Bank.

We understand the importance of keeping data secure and will only ever use contact details that have been given to us with expressed consent.

These contact details will be used to get in touch with the client and arrange pick ups of the equipment and items that they require. After this contact with the Baby Bank, the client may choose to give their contact details to the organisation running the collection point – but Bank Bank will never give a clients details to anyone else.

Client data will be kept for a period of a year from point of referral and then destroyed.

Referral contact details will only be used if further information is required about the client they have referred.

We also often have opportunities to volunteer, either for sorting through donations or taking donations to collection points. If you have some time to give, get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.

Salford Baby Bank is run by a charity called Daughters of Salford, in partnership with community organisations that work as collection points. For more info look at our ‘Why’ page.

If you are a new parent and need help, then there are lots of local charities and organisations that can refer you to the Salford Baby Bank. This might be your GP, your health visitor, a midwife, a teacher, a volunteer at a food bank, toddler group, or somewhere else that you are known.

Show someone that works at these organisations this website, and ask them if they would be happy to support your referral.

We want to build a network of partner organisations who want to enable families to thrive in Salford in a really practical way.

We also want to resource professionals with an easily accessible platform to upload referrals in a secure and safe way. Therefore we will accept referrals from any organisation that works in Salford, whether this is a school, doctors practice, hospital, charity, nursery, the council, or community centre.
